The Airedale Terrier or Bingley Terrier and Waterside Terrier is a breed of dog of the terrier type from the Aire river valley, in the West Riding of Yorkshire, England.
The Airedale is the largest of the terrier breeds. This breed comes from the Old English Black and Tan Terrier, the Otterhound, and probably a few other Terrier breeds and has contributed to other dog breeds, like the Yorkshire Terrier.
In Great Britain, the Airedale served as a farm, hunting, and working dog. This breed also helped as a war dog, guide dog, and police dog.
In the United States, this breed work as a hunting dog.
